Abuja- A Nigerian movie producer, Sandra Nwugo, says a Nollywood movie, “Revelation’’, would go a long way to promote the Nigeria culture.
Nwugo, a first time producer in the Nigerian movie industry, said this on Saturday night at the premiere and private view of the movie, “Revelation’’.
She said the movie which was centred on child adoption would enable Nigerians to focus primarily on parenthood and the family.
According to Nwugo, a happy and fulfilled life is strongly linked with starting a family irrespective of how a child comes into being.
“This is in particular reference to children in orphanages (motherless homes), whose desire for a “forever family’’ can only be achieved through an adoption.
“While it has been easy to overlook motherless children in the past, AIDS, EBOLA epidemic, among others, make it mandatory for us to look closely into issues of adoption and give hope to a helpless child.
“As a matter of fact, no child chose his parentage and every child deserves a happy home; couple should consider adoption as soon as they seek medical help for infertility,’’ Nwugo said.
The Director of the movie, Femi Abeton, commended President Jonathan for the financial support given to the movie industry, adding that the fund had assisted in the production of the movie.
“It is the skill that I got from the training which was funded by the money given to the industry by President Jonathan that enabled me to direct this movie.
“Nigerians should expect quality movie henceforth because most of our producers now have the experience to better jobs than what was obtainable in the past,’’ he said.
Agnes Hart, the Deputy Director Child Welfare, Social Development Secretariat in the FCT, said that children in the orphanages were not different from those under the tutelage of their parents.
Hart urged couples to feel free to adopt children in the FCT, saying that adoption of child in the city was free of charge.
“If you remove one child from the orphanage, you have removed one criminal or prostitute from the society,’’ she said.
NAN reports that the producers of the movie, “Revelation’’, have decided to create a regional adoption agency that will help provide interested families with information to explore adoption.
The agency will also assist in providing adequate funding to support the realities of adoption.
