The Bauchi State government says its recent introduction and adoption of the state-wide workers’ nominal roll, was meant to resolve the lingering challenges in salary administration.

Alhaji Ibrahim Kashim, the Secretary to the state government (SSG), disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, on Thursday.
He said government had made significant progress in tackling challenges in the payment of salaries by working out feasible modalities to ensure efficiency in the system.
Kashim said the adoption of the state-wide nominal roll system was to, among other things, provide a credible and efficient payment system to state and local government staffs.
“The system will mitigate cases of omission of names of deserving workers during payment of salaries,” he said.
Kashim said that the government was satisfied with the new system, adding that its implementation was being handled by the state’s office of the Head of Civil Service (HOS).
According to him, the state-wide nominal roll would render the omission of any civil servant from the payment of salary, a thing of the past.
Kashim said the engagement of DANA Tech, a consulting firm, to handle salary issues had made significant impact, especially in detecting fraudulent activities within the system.
He said the government introduced a reform in the Local Government system by granting them financial autonomy for optimal performance.
NAN reports that the state-wide nominal roll was designed to enhance probity and accountability in salary administration. It covered civil servants at both the Local and State levels challenge by salary administration in government agencies.
