Birnin Kebbi – Gov. Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara says governors in the northwest states are collaborating to combat cattle rustling, which has sacked communities and caused insecurity in the geo-political zone.
Yari told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday that the Presidency and the military were also giving their full support to rout the menace of cattle rustling in the zone.
He decried the rampant cases of cattle rustling in Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states, saying it resulted into insecurity of lives and property in the states.
The governor, however, said the joint efforts against the menace were already yielding positive results, with the affected state governments supporting the military in battling the problem.
He called on community leaders in the affected states to provide information to security agencies to ensure that the rustlers were apprehended and prosecuted.
Yari said the governors in the affected states had presented a report to the presidency for additional support on the insecurity caused by the activities of cattle rustlers. (NAN).
