KADUNA (Sundiata Post) – Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that Nigeria doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo President in 2023.
The former vice president made the statement during an interactive session with Arewa Joint Committee on Saturday in Kaduna State.
He said: “I have traversed the whole of this country, I know the whole of the country, I have built bridges across the country.
“What the average northerner needs is somebody who’s from the north and also understands that part of the country and has been able to build bridges across the country. This is what the Northerner needs; he doesn’t need a Yoruba or Igbo candidate, I stand before you as a Pan-Nigerian of northern origin.”
In his reaction, Festus Keyamo, the campaign director of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), slammed Atiku for using ethnicity to campaign.
Keyamo, who is also the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, described Atiku’s action as height of desperation and daredevilry, called on Atiku to quit the presidential race today.
He made the call on Saturday night via his twitter handle @fkeyamo with the video of the former President where he made the comment.
