Abuja- The National president, Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), Mrs Lami Jibrin, has urged students of the association’s educational centre to study hard in order to get the award for best students.
Jibrin made the call in Abuja on Thursday while presenting an award to the best students of the NOWA Educational Center, Karshi, Abuja, during the school’s 5th Christmas Carol and award giving ceremony.
The president told the beneficiaries that the gesture was to motivate other students to aspire to be recognised for future awards.
“I am very passionate about the development of students in our school and I promise that we shall continue to provide a conducive environment for the learning and teaching of our children.
“To the awardees, do not relent as the reward for hard work is more work,’’ she said.
The commandant of the school, Lt.-Cdr. Dauda Isa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the sidelines of the occasion that the recipients were chosen based on all-round performance and not academics alone.
“We had to look at their academic performance and their character because we also give them moral upbringing.
“Since the inception of the school the students have been doing well in competitions especially at the state level.
NAN reports that the center was established in 2010 and it comprises crèche, primary and boarding secondary school.
The pioneer students who are presently in SSS three would be sitting for their NECO and WAEC examinations in 2015.
The Christmas carol served as pomp and ceremony for both students and parents as they were treated to Christmas renditions and readings from the Holy Bible. (NAN)
