Lagos- Nigeria Paralympic Committee (NPC) President Monday Emoghavwe has reiterated its commitment to further boost the development of para-sports.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday that the committee would intensify efforts at organising regular competitions to engage athletes.

According to him, it is only through regular competitions that the committee can improve the knack of athletes.

“We have already started working towards 2015 to ensure the continuous development of para-sports.

“We will adopt all necessary efforts at organising programmes that will enhance the skills of our athletes,’’ he said.

Emoghavwe said that although para-powerlifting had produced more medals for the country at international tournaments, the committee would promote other para-sports for inclusive development.

“Para-powerlifting has contributed tremendously to Nigeria medals’ haul at various international competitions over the year.

“We want to look at a possible way to increase the profile of other para-sports in Nigeria and make them medal-winning globally,’’ he said.
Emoghavwe, nonetheless, appealed to corporate bodies and individual to support the physically challenged athletes. (NAN)
