NPFL Week Eight: Sunshine Stars beat Shooting Stars 2-0


Akure- Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure on Sunday defeated visiting Shooting Stars FC of Ibadan 2-0 in a Globacom Premier League week eight match.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match was in the week eight of the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and was played at the Akure Township Stadium.

Tunde Adeniji scored the opening goal for Sunshine Stars in the 60th minute, after a goalless first half.

Sunshine Stars’ continued dominance of the game paid off when Dele Olorundare extended their lead in the 67th minute, after an assist from Seun Olulayo.

Adeniji later told NAN after the game that he was impressed with the performance of the team so far in the league.

“I and my teammates, as well as the team’s coaches, have continued to show commitment to our games, and I am optimistic that the commitment will see us through this season,’’ he said.

NAN reports that Sunshine Stars will next visit Nasarawa United FC of Lafia in a week nine match on Sunday.(NAN)
