Gusau (Zamfara – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara State Command, on Thursday in Gusau presented four suspects for allegedly abetting cattle rustling in the state
.
The Commandant, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, told newsmen that the suspects (names withheld), were supplying petroleum products to cattle rustlers to carry out their nefarious activities.
Ibrahim said the command had been monitoring the suspects when it gathered an intelligence report about their activities.
He said the suspects were arrested in Zurmi and Bukkuyum local government areas which were among the most affected by cattle rustling.
He said the suspects were being investigated by the command and would be charged to court.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He called on the people to avoid any acts that could breach the peace and stability in the state.
Ibrahim also disclosed that the command had sealed four private security companies in the state for operating illegally without statutory registration.
“The NSCDC has the statutory responsibility to register and monitor the operations and activities of private security guards.
“We discovered that out of the 49 private security companies operating in the state, only few of them registered with us.
“We want to make sure that they are operating in accordance with the provisions of law,’’ he said.
