Minna – The Niger Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said on Wednesday in Minna that it apprehended four tankers laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The State Commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba, who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen, said they were recently apprehended while trying to divert the product at about 1:30a.m.
He, however, did not give details of the trucks and persons involved due to security reasons.
“ Interrogation after we apprehended the drivers heading out of Minna at that time of the day clearly showed that they were trying to divert PMS meant for Minna.
“Due to the hardship caused by inadequate fuel supply, we forced them to discharge the product in Minna and sell to the people,’’ he said.
Ayuba who declined going into detailed report on the issue said “under that circumstance that was the right thing to do because our people need the fuel, there was no need to keep it.’’
Ayuba said that the corps was carrying out the task of compelling marketers to sell petroleum products at government approved pump prices. (NAN)
