Ilorin – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwars command, on Saturday said it deployed 2,500 personell to protect lives and property at the ongoing 2017 maulud celebration of late Sheikh Nyass in llorin.
The Commandant of the Corps, Mr Pedro ldeba, disclosed this on Saturday in llorin in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said the corps and the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olusola Amore personally supervised the security situation at the metropolitan square in llorin, venue of the celebration.
The commandant said the celebration was hitch-free, in spite of the mammoth crowd at the venue.
“We are astonished at the large turnout of Muslims at the venue but we thank God for a trouble-free hosting of the event,” Ideba said.
The spokesperson of the Police command, Samuel Okasanmi, said the command deployed 2009 personell to the venue.
