Jos – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Plateau Command, says it will deploy 2,200 officers and men to enhance security in Plateau during the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
Mr Felix Gbolade, the commandant of the NSCDC, Plateau Command, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos.
According to him, the 2,200 officers and men will be deployed in the 17 Local Government Areas.
He assured the public of the corps’ commitment to ensuring a peaceful Sallah celebration.
“I am reassuring the general public of the NSCDC’s commitment to working in synergy with sister agencies in the state to forestall any breakdown in peace and order,” he said.

Gbolade advised the public, especially the youth, to shun violence.
“I advise the youth to desist from being used by people with nefarious intentions to perpetrate violence, which would lead to breach of the law.
“I am calling on parents to warn their children and wards to desist from engaging in violence during and after the celebration.
“All the security agencies are on the alert to nab anyone with such intentions,” he said.
Gbolade called on all citizens to go about their legitimate businesses and to report any suspicious movement by groups or individuals to NSCDC formations or other security agencies.
