NSCDC trains officers on effective report writing

The Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will ensure proper reportage of intelligence information by training her personnel.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Kwara Command of the Corps, Mr Babawale Afolabi in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Afolabi said that the State Commandant, Mr Makinde Ayinla, has pledged to adopt a systematic effort to develop and modify the knowledge, skills and character traits of officers and men of the Corps through workshops.

According to him, the maiden workshop on “Report Gathering and Writing”, was held at the Command headquarters in Ilorin on Wednesday.

“In his remark, the commandant specified that the core objective of the workshop is to equip officers with knowledge on security report writing.

“He further said that the training is centred on how to write a factual, detailed and good narrative report for effective communication,” Afolabi said.

He said that the resource person, Hajiya Mujidat Oyewole-Bello, disclosed that a good security report should include date and time of the incident, location and other details of what happened.

“Hajiya Mujidat critically explained that the six important things to consider when writing a report, are: Who, Why, Where, When, What and How.

“She said emphatically that these six questions are very important for a report to have a good meaning and for the reader to understand what the report is all about,” the statement read in part.

Afolabi said that the Area (C) Commander, Mr Adebiyi Adebisi, described the seminar as timely and apt.

“The workshop has exposed me to the rules of writing a good report,” Adebisi was quoted saying.

The spokesman further said that the Pake Divisional Officer, Mr Joshua Tunde, thanked the state commandant for this initiative in building the capacity of officers and men of the command for the Corp’s statutory functions.

Heads of departments, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers of the NSCDC in the state were some of the participants of the workshop, he said.
