Abuja – Mr Abdullahi Gana, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Wednesday in Abuja said the Corps’ Command and Control Centre was yielding remarkable results.
Gana said this during an interview with newsmen in his office in Abuja.
“The Command and Control Centre owned by the Corps to monitor activities of vandals in the Southern region is the first of its kind in Nigeria.
“So far, 46 offenders have been convicted in the South-East, while 16 illegal refineries have been destroyed,’’ he said.
The commandant-general also said that 70 per cent of oil installations across the federation were under the watch of the NSCDC personnel whom he described as `gallant officers and men of the Corps’.
He called on those who were destroying the nation’s facilities to have a re-think of their nefarious acts.
He warned that the destruction of critical infrastructure in various parts of the country had a direct harm on the economy which if not checked would affect even generations yet unborn.
The Corps helmsman thanked the Federal Government for its support in ensuring that the activities of the NSCDC were well funded.
“As a matter of fact, almost all the budget of the Corps has been approved,’’ he said. (NAN)
