NSE moves 483.741m shares worth N5.09bn

Lagos – Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday staked N5.09 billion on 483.741 million shares in 4,673 deals.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the volume of transactions represented 19.91 per cent decrease over the 604.024 million shares worth N2.92 billion traded in 4,088 deals on Tuesday.

The Financial Service Sector sustained its leading position as the delight of investors with 286.52 million shares worth N2.65 billion in 1,842 deals.

The banking sub-sector drove activities in the sector, accounting for 262.09 million shares valued N2.58 billion achieved in 1,491 deals.

Similarly, the NSE All-Share Index depreciated by 400.23 points or 1.40 per cent to close at 28,137.65 as against the 28,537.88 achieved on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation fell by N23 billion to close at N9.670 trillion from the N9.900 trillion posted on Tuesday.

Nestle recorded the highest price loss of N48.29 to close at N917.69 per share.

It was followed by Mobil oil, which lost N6.50 to close at N146.88 and Total oil depreciated by N5.12 to close at N146.88 per share.

Dangote Cement dipped N3.90 to close at N165.15 and Afarge Wapco and Guinness dropped N2.99 each to close at N97 and N110.01 per share respectively.

Conversely, Dangote Sugar topped the gainers’ table with a gain of 30k to close at N6.34 per share.

Vita Foam trailed with a gain of 12k to close at N5.75, while FCMB went up by 4k to close at N2.12 per share.

Wema Bank appreciated by 3k to close at 90k and Costain increased by 2k to close at 61k per share.(NAN)
