NTTF unveils German coach as Technical Adviser ahead of AAG

Lagos- The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) on Monday in Lagos unveiled a German, Martin Adomeit, as the Technical Adviser of the national table tennis team.

Banji Oladapo, a board member of NTTF, told newsmen at the unveiling that Adomeit was contracted based on his technical ability and in-depth knowledge of the sport.

Oladapo said Adomeit’s wealth of experience was needed to increase the technical alertness of Nigerian players ahead of the 11th All-Africa Games (AAG) in Brazzaville, Congo.

“We need someone that can give our players the confidence they need when playing and we believe he possesses that quality.

“He was the man behind Nigeria’s star boy Aruna Quadri who won the 2014 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) star player award.

“The NTTF President, Waheed Enitan worked tirelessly to get him here and we are happy that he is here,” the Vice-President of Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) said.

The former Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) Secretary-General, however, commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its financial commitment in getting the German to work for the country.

Speaking at the occasion, Adomeit said he would work hand in hand with the national team’s coaching crew to bring the best out of the players.

“Table tennis is a very technical sport, but with collective efforts and commitment we will achieve success.

“The players are the gladiators, because without them there won’t be a coach. So, I need their support as well.

“I like to work and be on top of anything I do as a coach,” he said.

Anderson Bankole, NTTF’s Technical Director, said Adomeit’s addition to the coaching crew would impact on the country’s chances of winning medals in the sport at the AAG.
