The state’s chairman of the union, Mr Tajudeen Agbede, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that passengers should be security conscious to complement efforts of the union.
Agbede called on passengers to report all questionable luggage and personalities to the union’s security officers.
According to him, the union has appointed security officers for parks to ensure security.
“The union has appointed a Chief Security Officer in each of its units across the state to beef up security so as to prevent sad incidents.
“ We have trained all our security officers across units to ensure protection of lives and property in parks all over the state.
“After all these, we need the support of all our customers to be vigilant too, reporting all questionable movements and luggage,’’ the NURTW chairman said.
He said that most of its major parks in Lagos had been fenced and the union had discouraged the sale of alcoholic drinks there, to enhance safety.

Agbede advised passengers not to keep mute when drivers misbehave on the roads, but rather to warn such drivers.

The union leader said it was compulsory for members to comply with the safety rules and regulations.
“As we pray for protection against bad incidents every day, we must take action on our part to guard against them.

“We have warned our members to take the issue of security very seriously above the quest to make gain and I pray God to keep us all,’’ he said. (NAN)
