Five State branches of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), have endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi, as the youths’ candidates for the presidency in 2023.
The NYCN, Kogi State chapter, recently embarked on the first phase of its state-to-state tour where it visited Ondo, Kwara, Niger, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to create awareness and mobilize support for the project, Governor Yahya Bello to President Yahya Bello (GYB2PYB).
A statement by Bishop Aturu, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Chairman, Kogi NYCN, Idris Ojoko, said Kogi NYCN had embarked on inter-state tour in their quest to actualize the dream of a youthful president at the 2023 presidential election.
According to the statement, leading the movement across to five states of the federation, Ojoko lauded the states for the warm reception given to them and the opportunity bestowed on them to carry out the mission.
Ojoko, who doubles as the Chairman NYCN, Nasarawa State chapter, said
”The not-too-young to run bill which has been signed into law, he stressed, “has given youths the opportunity to change the existing narrative about governance.
”GYB is already doing great in Kogi State, hence, reasons why we are adopting him as our arrow head for 2023 presidential race.
”I must say that its youth o’clock come 2023, which our candidacy in GYB is more than capable as he possess all the charisma, knowledge about leadership and capacity to face country’s challenges and restore the lost glory of the country”, Ojoko said.
According to the statement, the Kogi NYCN Council boss, Amb. Usman Ogohi, reinstated the commitment of GYB to the welfare of youths in the country, stressing that the governor was passionate about youth participation in national politics.
“GYB is a youth like us. I am not selling to you a candidate who will fail us but a candidate whose work speaks volume for him in Kogi State and in Nigeria.
”Governor Bello is not just proactive, meticulous and courageous; he is also a promise-keeping leader.
”It is against this backdrop that Nigerians are coming out to identify with his vision and asking him to run for the nation’s top office in 2023,” Ogohi said.
He stressed that one thing that sets GYB different from others was his strong belief in equity, fairness and justice, which always reflects in the appointment of his aides and the developmental spread of projects across the state.
He emphasised that GYB had demonstrated competence in the provision of infrastructures and utilities in the state.
Ogohi further disclosed that few months in the saddle of leadership, the plague of insecurity in the state gave way with Kogi now celebrated as the most secure and safest in the country.
He expressed gratitude to all the five state NYCN chapters for adopting the GYB to PYB project, assuring them that they would not regret making him their choice in the coming elections.
The statement noted that in their separate remarks, NYCN Chairmen of Ondo, Ogunmolawa Matthew Adewale; Kwara, Alh. Ali Nasiru; Niger, Bello Sharif; and that of FCT, Abdullahi Suleiman; expressed their delight with the transformational policy in Kogi State.
They stressed that GYB stood tall among others in the quest for the repositioning of Nigeria’s fortunes.
They, however, pledged their unflinching support towards the GYB2PYB emancipation come 2023, stressing that the numerical strength of the largest Constituency in the country would come to play out for GYB.
