Iseyin – Brig-Gen. Sule Kazaure, the Director-General of the NYSC, on Monday visited the 2017 Batch A Stream 1 corps members at their camp in Iseyin, Oyo State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit was in continuation of the director general’s working tour of NYSC orientation camps nationwide.
Kazaure, who interacted with the corps members, also assessed the ongoing construction of hostels in the camp.
He urged the corps members to add value to their lives through the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC, especially its skills acquisition programmes in order to be self reliant.
Kazaure also advised them to accept the culture and tradition of their host communities.
He called on the corps members to avoid unnecessary journeys and night parties while shunning indecent dressing and corruption.
Kazaure also urged the corps members to comply with the rules and regulations put in place throughout the service year, adding that those faithful would be rewarded.
“You are the future leaders of the country, in you I see prominent presidents, governors, so be hard working and diligent knowing that there is no short cut to success.
“I assure you that your welfare will be my first priority, always call on me when there is need,” he said.
Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mrs Ifeoma Anidobi, had noted that the state registered 2,231 corps members made up of 950 males and 1,281 females.
Anidobi said the members had adjusted to camp life, adding that Muslims were excluded from strenuous activities due to the Ramadan.
“We have also made arrangements for their meals so that they will be comfortable.
“We have medical practitioners in the camp to take care of the corps members’ health.
“Also, our security operatives have also been on the alert.
“ Due to their hard work, a fake prospective corps member was arrested on queue.
“The matter has been reported to the police and it is being taken care of,” she said.
