Birnin Kebbi – The Kebbi Directorate, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is working closely with security agencies to receive and safeguard 2,300 batch B 2016 corps members posted to the state, an official has said.
The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Olawale Ebenezer, told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday that the newly posted corps members were expected at the permanent orientation camp in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area as from Thursday.
He said the scheme had also solicited the support of the state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers for the smooth transportation of the corps members to the orientation camp.
He said arrangement had been made to secure the corps members in the camp as armed military personnel, policemen, anti bomb squad, and members of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps would be deployed to the camp.
He assured parents and guardians that efforts had been made to ensure the safety of their children at the orientation camp and at their places of primary assignments.
He said: “Like in the past, we will work closely with the community to ensure smooth conduct of the scheme in the state.
“The state NYSC has enjoyed cordial relationship with the state government, security agencies, traditional institution, the media, and the society.
“So, we will not relent in safeguarding the lives and property of the corps members posted to the state.’’
