Katsina – Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State has described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as veritable agent for social change and beacon of hope for Nigerian youths.
He stated this on Monday in Katsina at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for NYSC Batch B, Stream One 2015 deployed to the state.
Masari, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, said the NYSC scheme had greatly assisted government in tackling unemployment and restiveness among youths in the country.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He said that was why his administration would continue to give support to the scheme in achieving its set objectives.
Masari, therefore, urged the corps members to be hard working in their places of primary assignments and to freely relate with members of their host communities by learning their culture and languages.
The governor assured them that he would strive to create an enabling environment for peaceful co-existence.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Hajiya Mairo Mohammad, had urged the corps members to be law abiding throughout the service year.
She also urged them to be hard working and to strive to become self-reliant at their places of primary assignments by utilising the acquired skills at the training camp even after the service year. (NAN)
