IJEBU-ODE – The Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has called on Muslims, irrespective of tribe or region, to continually live together in peace and love, especially with non-adherents.
Adetona, who spoke at his 80th Birthday Prayer Service at Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque on Friday, thanked God and lauded Ijebu people for their support in the past 55 years on the throne.
He commended the State Government for living up to the mandate, saying, “we are all living witnesses to the rapid development visible in Ogun.’’
Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun described the Awujale as a personification of justice and love.
“He has done well for his people and deserves all the honour he gets. He is a good man, a good father and a good king indeed’’, Amosun said.
Former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State urged the people of Ijebu to continually live in peace as epitomised by Adetona.
Tinubu urged Nigerians not to despair in the face of challenges, adding that the nation would prosper in spite of the present travails.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by Amb. Hamzat Ahmad, thanked Allah for granting the monarch good health to serve his people.
The Chief Imam of Ijebu-Ode, Sheikh Abdur-Razaq Salaudeen, called on political leaders to run open door administration in order to give their followers a sense of belonging.
Salaudeen also told the electorate to lend their support to office holders in order to succeed in serving them in office.
“They must be commended where they do well just like we chastise them when they are wrong’’, the cleric added. (NAN)
