The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the oba allegedly threatened Igbos in Lagos with death in the lagoon if they failed to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Saturday’s governorship polls in the state.
Salau said that every Nigerian had a right to live freely in any part of the country irrespective of political or religious affiliation.
“The Oba must be joking; it is a joke and every Nigerian has the right to stay in any part of the country.
“’The Igbos have the right to live in Lagos; he must be joking; it must be fun.
“Many Igbos born in Lagos are now Yorubas; we are all one. What is important is for every candidate to campaign for votes.
‘’No one can be forced to vote for anyone; it is your manifesto that will get you votes; the Oba was just joking surely,’’ he said.
He congratulated the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on his victory, adding that Buhari’s principle of honesty would direct the economy toward development.
“On behalf of the National Executive Council of the party, I, the National Chairman, hereby direct all the state executive committees to mobilize our supporters and members to vote for the candidates of the APC.
“In addition, all our grassroots members should campaign for all APC gubernatorial candidates and adopt alliances with APC to produce candidates for every constituency,’’ he said. (NAN)
