It may come as a surprise to many Nigerians to know that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was not born in Abeokuta or Otta.
It’s commonly held among majority of Nigerians that the former president hails from Abeokuta and lives in Otta, where he farms. Ever since Obasanjo became a president his birthplace, has received prominent persons across the country and some projects including the location of a College of Engineering of the Olabisi Onabanjo University by the Otunba Gbenga Daniel administration.
Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday, December 26, paid a visit to Ibogun Olaogun, in Ogun state the town where he was born. Ibogun community comprises of 17 villages in Ifo local government area of Ogun state. The birthplace of the former president played host to Senator Ibikunle Amosun at the 2017 Ibogun Olaogun day celebration.
Obasanjo, who is also the Balogun of Owu Kingdom, made the call on Saturday, December 17, in Ibadan during the 26th National Convention of Royal Union of Owu People (RUOP).
