OGIDI – Gov. Willie Obiano has advised Anambra State farmers to form cooperative societies to enable them to benefit from President Goodluck Jonathan’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda.
Obiano said this in Ogidi near Onitsha in Anambra on Wednesday after he spoke with the All Progressive Grand Alliance’s stakeholders and farmers in the community.
“I would continue to advise our farmers to pool themselves together by forming cooperative societies to benefit from the current President Goodluck Jonathan’s Agricultural Transformation and Value Addition Agenda.
“This will allow them to receive free tractor service and farm inputs from the Anambra Ministry of Agriculture, which is part of the APGA-led government agricultural revolution in Anambra.’’
He explained that land provided (leased to state government) for farming by any community would be properly utilised to engage youths in agriculture.
The governor, however, urged residents, especially youths in Ogidi community to be part of the state government’s agricultural programme geared towards achieving food sufficiency and food security in Anambra. (NAN)
