ABUJA – Dr Obadiah Mailafia, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is dead.
According to media reports, Mailafia, aged 64, died at the National Hospital, Abuja.
He was born on December 24, 1956.
Obadiah Mailafia became more popular after he granted a radio interview linking most top government officials of sponsoring terrorism in Nigeria.
After his interview, he was invited by the State Security Service for a record three times to defend his statements.
He has been a strong voice against the perceived plan to Islamide Nigeria and the impending jihad in the country.
He was a Nigerian development economist, international polymath, statesman and the 2019 presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mailafia was a former official of the African Development Bank Group and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP), the 79-nation multilateral development institution based in Brussels, Belgium.
