Lagos – For allegedly stealing her employer’s N100,000, a 20-year-old office cleaner, Angela Emmanuel, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
She was, however, released on N100, 000 bail.
The woman, who resides at 7, Kukoyi St., Alapere, Ketu, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.
The offence, according to Prosecutor Clifford Ogu, was committed on March 9 on Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja.
Ogu said the accused stole N100, 000 belonging to her employer — Daranuka Property Ventures.
“The accused opened the drawer in the office, stole N100, 000 and disappeared.
“Efforts to locate her were unsuccessful; she was later sighted and apprehended by the police,’’ he told the court.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates three years for offenders.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused N100, 000 bail with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until April 10 for mention.
