Abeokuta. – The Ogun House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Dr Tomi Coker as commissioner in the state.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the confirmation of the nominee followed a motion moved by Mr Yusuf Sherif (Ado Odo Ota 1), the Majority Leader, and seconded by Mr Yusuf Amosun (APM – Ewekoro) during plenary on Tuesday.
The majority leader had earlier read the report of the Committee of the Whole House, chaired by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo (APC–Ifo1), on the screening of the commissioner-nominee.
Oluomo said that the nominee was screened by the House on Monday and was found eligible and suitable.
He said that the committee scrutinised and examined the curriculum vitae and credentials of the nominee and he was found worthy for appointment into the exalted position.
“The committee, therefore, recommended that the request of the governor for confirmation of the commissioner-nominee is consented to by the House,” he said.
NAN reports that the assembly had, earlier on Dec. 17, confirmed 17 commissioner-nominees out of the 18 sent to it by Gov. Dapo Abiodun.
