Abeokuta – No fewer than 150 women entrepreneurs, on Thursday, benefitted from the financial empowerment, organised by the Wife of Ogun Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, in partnership with SheVenture, a financial unit of First City Monument Bank (FCMB).
Speaking at a one-day capacity building programme in Abeokuta, Mrs Abiodun said that the beneficiaries were entrepreneurs with registered businesses and operational bases in different parts of the state.
She stated that the programme would afford the participants the opportunity to access N1 million each to boost their businesses.
While reiterating her commitment to women empowerment in the state, Mrs Abiodun urged the beneficiaries to value their businesses, saying that it would make them overcome any challenge confronting their means of livelihood.
“I don’t want you to give up when you have problems; problems are bound to happen in any business. Things will happen that will discourage you, but make yourself better; render services that will be better than those of others.
“I am happy, not only by the participation of my office in this initiative, but also, the opportunity to nominate 150 women entrepreneurs, with businesses registered and operational in Ogun state as participants,” she added.
The Executive Director, Business Development, FCMB, Mrs Bukola Smith, explained that zero interest loans would also be given to qualified participants who met the criteria specified by the bank.
She said that the programme was to avail the participants of the three pillars of successful business, which she listed as access to financing, access to information and access to network.
