Sango-Ota(Ogun) – The Ogun Government has charged officers of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) to be diligent and focused in the discharge of their duties.
The state’s Head of service, Mr Abayomi Sobande, gave the charge at the opening of a two-day seminar organised by the Corps in Abeokuta.
The seminar has as its theme; “Capacity Building in Road Traffic Management; Panacea for Combating Road Traffic Crashes within Ogun State”.
Sobande said: “the operatives should always display good virtues and integrity, as well as the ethics of the profession, being their guiding principle.”
He admonished the officials to always shun acts that could tarnish the good image of the corps and to promote safety regulations and ensure that motorists complied with traffic regulations in the state.
Sobande, however, implored them to “invest a lot on your integrity as it determines your future in the cause of your career in life’’.
He explained that the perception of the people of TRACE officials meant a lot and should be the focus “as it goes a long way at promoting your organization and the government you serve’’.
Sobande also advised the operatives to be mindful of their health status, saying they should regularly visit hospitals for medical check-ups, considering the rigorous nature of their work.
“You have an extremely demanding job, please don’t always forget about your health, attend hospitals regularly for check-ups; we need you alive for more quality service in the state,’’ he said.
The Head of Service assured them of government’s continuous support in enhancing their welfare and providing them with basic equipment that would promote efficient and service delivery.
Speaking earlier, the TRACE Corps Commander, Cdr. Olaseni Ogunyemi, explained that the programme was designed to create a platform for training and retraining of middle officers of the corps who were next in line for higher responsibilities.(NAN)
