Abeokuta – The Ogun Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on Tuesday commenced the sale of Hajj forms for the 2016 pilgrimage at the Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
The Chairman of the Board, Dr Ishaq Yusuf, said that the sale would continue on Wednesday at other designated zones in the state.
He listed the points of sale as Abeokuta Central Mosque; Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque; Ilaro Central Mosque, as well as Sagamu and Ifo Central Mosques.
Yusuf explained that each intending pilgrim would pay N10,000 for the form, adding that the sum of N3,000 and N2,700 would be paid for insurance cover and medical test respectively.
He added that “each intending pilgrim is also to pay N800,000 into the Board’s account at designated banks as initial deposit before Feb. 15.’’

He noted that only Muslim pilgrims from Ogun were eligible to purchase the forms, stressing that “the rush experienced by the pilgrims’ board every year is usually enormous and we have decided to give priority to Muslims from Ogun.
“The Board will not compromise its standard, as it will ensure that slots allocated to the state are allocated to indigenes of Ogun only.’’
The chairman further stated that the pilgrims would also be required to present original copies of certificate of their state of origin. (NAN)
