ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has given intending pilgrims for this year’s Hajj in the state, up till June 20, to make payments, or lose their chances.
The is contained in a statement, signed by Alhaji Sefiu Rasheed Executive Secretary of the board, issued on Monday in Abeokuta.
In the statement. Rasheed said that the board had fixed a tentative fee of N710, 000 for each applicant.
It also said that it had concluded screening exercise to ascertain the eligibility of applicants.
He said that all successful applicants were expected to verify their names at the board, adding that the tentative fee was subject to adjustment any time the official fee was announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria Headquarters (NAHCON) in Abuja.
He further stressed that the decision to collect the fees in advance was necessitate by the need to fast-track preparations for the exercise
“This fees are still subject to review by the NAHCON, but it will serve as a basis for applicants to secure their chances of participating in the 2014 exercise,” he said.
Rasheed also advised intending pilgrims to promptly submit their e-passports after fulfilling all requirements so as to enable the board commence the processing of travel documents in earnest.(NAN)
