Benin – The Edo House of Assembly on Monday urged the NNPC to compensate victims of oil spillage in Igiode community in Etsako East local government area.
Mr Kingsley Ugabi (APC Etsako East), who moved the motion under matters of urgent public importance during plenary on Monday in Benin, said that the oil spillage had caused pollution to farmlands.
According to Ugabi, the river which serves as the only source of water supply to the community is also polluted.
He, therefore, urged NNPC to clean up the affected area and send its technical team to replace ruptured pipelines.
