DELTA (SUNDIATA POST)- Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege has said that APC chieftains in Delta are not united because there had not been genuine effort to bring opposing leaders to a roundtable since 2023 general elections.
Omo-Agege, former deputy president of the Senate, made the disclosure at an interactive meeting of the leaders and stakeholders on Thursday in Warri.
The former lawmaker noted that while reconciliation was important, it must be genuine and not just political rhetoric.
“I do not know any politician who does not want reconciliation. Everyone talks about it because, as they say, talk is cheap.
“But let us be honest, talking is easy, real reconciliation requires action.
“We have done everything possible, and we are still ready to do more, but only if it is genuine and based on a shared determination to win.
“No real efforts has been made to bring opposing party leaders together for meaningful discussions since the 2023 elections.
“Rather, false narratives were pushed, claiming that I and my team have rejected reconciliation.
“The last thing we heard was, they do not want reconciliation. But was there ever a real attempt to reconcile? no,” he said.
Omo-Agege noted that successes in an election required collective efforts.
He expressed gratitude to the APC leaders and members for their sacrifices and unwavering support.
The former legislator, who expressed optimism in the party’s future in Delta, urged the supporters to remain united and focused on the 2027 general elections.
He also advised them to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence, stressing that the future of Delta depends on collective effort and holding leaders accountable.
Earlier, Prince Yemi Emiko, APC chieftain in Warri South, urged party leaders and members in Delta to unite and support Omo-Agege.
He said that Omo-Agege had rightfully earned the leadership of the party in Delta through hard work and grassroots mobilisation.
According to Emiko, leadership is earned and not enforced.
He, however, criticised those attempting to claim the party leadership in Delta without meaningful contributions to the party’s successes. (NAN)
