Nigerian actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has appreciated a fan who defended her after she was dragged online for her 2020 tweet about the Lekki Tollgate shootings during the #EndSARS protest.
Reacting to the backlash on Tuesday, another Twitter user @Ibroulaxz defended the actress saying that she never stipulated that no life was lost at the protest but rather demanded that the relatives of the victims speak up.
“I went through the screenshot and I didn’t see where she said there was no one killed … try and read through each lines … I think what she was saying is for the relatives to speak up so as to know the truth since they’re trying to change the story … just my observation,” he tweeted.
Responding to the tweet, Omotola wrote, ” It is well, I’m grateful.”
The tweet resurfaced after the Lagos State judicial panel of inquiry on restitution for victims of police brutality revealed that nine persons were killed at Lekki toll gate when soldiers stormed the area on October 20, 2020 to disperse #EndSARS protesters.
