LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has sounded a warning against the growing trend of clout chasing, urging people to be mindful of the choices they make in the quest for attention.
In a series of reflective posts shared via her Instagram Story, the actress highlighted how easy it has become to trend by resorting to extreme behavior, including public insults and nudity.
“Do you know, it’s very easy to trend. Very very easy,” she wrote. “For starters, just say or do something out of the norm. Insult someone important or go nude. So easy, so desperate, so cheap.”
She went on to question the cost of seeking viral fame in today’s social media-driven world, where attention has seemingly become more valuable than principles.
“In today’s world, where attention is the new currency, what are you willing to trade for it? Your values? Your morale? Your conscience? Your mind? Your self-control?” she asked.
Encouraging her audience to pause and reflect, Omotola reminded them that every action has consequences. “Just think aloud. Lol. Oh, you are waiting for me to tell you something magical? Lol. Common, you know what you’re doing, enjoy! You know what they say. Whatever you sow…”
She acknowledged that while the path of integrity may be slower, it ultimately leads to more lasting and meaningful success.
“Stop! Before becoming slaves to the algorithm. Think again,” she concluded.
