AKURE (Sundiata Post) – The Ondo State House of Assembly on Thursday held a special session in honour of a late lawmaker, Mr Kuti Towase, who served from 2015 to 2023.
reports that Towase represented Akoko South-West Constituency in the 8th and the 9th Assembly.
The special session, which was presided over by the Speaker, Chief Olamide Oladiji, was attended by present and former lawmakers in honour of the deceased.
Speaking, the Majority Leader of the House, Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, described the late lawmaker as a man of peace who always stood for the truth.
“Late Towase was honest and a man of integrity, and he would often do any special roles assigned to him diligently, very dedicated and a committed parliamentarian,” he said.
Also, a former lawmaker, Mr Gbenga Omole, said it was painful to have lost Towase at his prime.
Omole, while sympathizing with the family, enjoined the House to always consider the well-being of past and current members of the Assembly.
Similarly, Mr Olusegun Ajimotokin, a former lawmaker, described Towase as a sincere personality who committed his life to serving people.
Ajimotokin urged the leadership of the House of the Assembly to influence prompt payment of severance allowance of former lawmakers so that they could cater for their health and personal needs when they are still alive.
In his remarks, Oladiji described Towase as bold, brilliant, dedicated member of the House who lived his entire life for humanity.
The speaker who sympathised with the family members of the late lawmaker, said his meaningful and robust contribution to legislative matters would not be forgotten in a haste as he would be greatly missed.
Oladiji appreciated people in attendance for creating time to pay their last respect to the late lawmaker and encouraged all to live an exemplary life.
Towase died on Jan. 15, 2025 at the age of 62. (NAN)
