Mimiko in his speech at the event attended by sports administrators and other stakeholders, noted that it was the first time the state would be signing an MoU on football activity.
He commended the Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Akin Akinbobola, for breaking the ground with the signing of the MoU .
“We have been here since 2009 without signing any MoU on football, this is breaking the ground.
“The MoU will bring money for us, the state will be on the world football map,” he said.
Earlier, Akin Akinbobola, Chairman, Ondo State Football Agency (OSSFA), said the deal would develop football in the state.
He said the agency needed to source for partners in Europe to develop the already discovered talents back home.
He added that it was not Ondo State alone that would benefit from the programme as the teams in the state had players from different states of the country.
Also, Gabriel Zarza, Director, Marketing, Club Deportivo de Castellon, noted that the MoU would bring development to football in both countries.
Zarza noted that it was hardwork that brought up the deal between both parties.
He prayed that the deal would be a success, saying that “I am happy my club is the first to sign this kind of deal with the state’’. (NAN)
