Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Barely one day to the national planned protest on August 1, 2024, the Plateau State government says it is in full support of the decisions of the youths in the State not to join the proposed national protest tagged #EndBadGovernance”.
The government through its Secretary to the government of the State, Mr. Samuel Jatau, lauded the youths when he addressed a gathering on Tuesday in Jos.
“The protest will do more harm than good as it will be hijacked by hoodlums”, Jatau who represented the Governor Mutfwang said.
“I am aware of the hardship but be patient with the government”, the Governor said.
“My administration has initiated some strategies to cushion the negative effects of the hardship faced”, he continued.
“We have increased students’ scholarship to 300 per cent and back dated 2016 when the payment stopped.
“We brought metro buses and ensured that each drop, no matter the distance, is N200.
“We have also introduced shuttle trains in all the bid to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
“However, I want all of you to understand that the challenges predate the current Federal Government and they cannot be solved all of them in one day.
“Peaceful protests have a thin line to turn into crises and we must avoid it. If you allow it to happen, it means taking the hand of the clock backwards,” he said.
