Lagos -Hon. Victor Akande, Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Business District, on Sunday urged Nigerians to rally round the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for a better Nigeria.
Akande, (PDP) representing Ojo Constituency 1 made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
According to the lawmaker, Buhari’s administration is on course and has been conservative in style as regards spending of the nation’s resources.
He cited the cutting-down of the allowances for lawmakers and the removal of the fuel subsidy as remarkably steps in the right direction.
“Those are decisions that only a courageous leader with good intention for his people can take.
“Things are very difficult in Nigeria today; we must acknowledge so but the hardship is not peculiar to Nigeria.
“The war against corruption is yielding results; many loopholes have been uncovered in the ministries and agencies,’’Akande said.
He said that with many intervention programmes in the agenda of the administration, Nigerians would soon have some respite.
Akande appealed to the Federal Government to speed expedite measures aimed at resuscitating the power sector to serve as catalyst for economic growth.
“The effort of the administration at economic diversification can only be achieved when there is constant electricity supply that will encourage the establishment of cottage industries to process products from the farms,’’ he said. (NAN)
