Akun (Nasarawa)- Sen. Patricia Akwashiki, a former National Assembly member representing Nasarawa North, says the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) is the only political party that appoints more women to political positions in the country.
Akwashiki, who is one of the ministers-designate, stated this in Akun during the PDP governorship campaign rally in Akun development area of the state.
According to her, PDP is the only political party that will bring more dividends of democracy to the electorate and urge Nigerians to vote all PDP candidates during the February poll.
“PDP government has transformed all the sectors of the economy positively, it fights poverty, unemployment, youths restiveness and also provides farm inputs to farmers as well as making health facilities accessible to the people, especially to the rural dwellers.
“It is only in PDP government under President Goodluck Jonathan that women occupied more political positions; President Jonathan had not only initiated 35 per cent affirmative action for women but he has also implemented it by appointing more women in to political positions in the country.
“Women have been accommodated and adequately recognised under PDP government and I call on women and others Nigerians to vote President Jonathan for the second term and other PDP candidates during the February poll.”

Akwashiki also thanked President Jonathan for her nomination as a minister and called on the women and others Nigerians who were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to do in their interest and for national development.
Also speaking the rally, Mr.Dameshi Luka, Chief Yunana Iliya, the Deputy Governor, respectively expressed optimism that PDP would win the presidential election and would reclaim the state in the February elections.
The duo cautioned the people of the state and other Nigerians against politics of ethnicity and religion in the interest of peace and national development.

Earlier, Sen. Solomon Ewuga, the Director-General of the PDP Campaign Organisation in the state, urged the people of the area to vote PDP at all level in order to enjoy more dividend of democracy. (NAN)
