Orlu (Imo) – The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Orlu branch in Imo has called on the Federal Government to deploy its security apparatus to facilitate the immediate and unconditional release of Justice Chioma Iheme-Nwosu of the Court of Appeal, Benin.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued to newsmen on Friday by the association at the end of its three-day boycott of courts to protest the continued abduction of the judge.
In the communique signed by the Chairman of the branch, Mr Celestine Agbordike, the association stated that “it was still a puzzle that the whereabouts of the erudite justice has yet to be ascertained, more than a week after.”
The lawyers called on the Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Service and all the security agencies to act expeditiously to rescue the judge and reunite her with her family.
They stated: “We have just concluded a three-day court boycott to express our anger and frustration over the senseless violence and kidnap of our sister and the killing of her orderly.
“You will recall that Iheme-Nwosu was of Imo State High Court before she was elevated to the Court of Appeal.
“Above all, she hails from Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo and Orlu branch of NBA is the mother branch.
“We continue to demand for her unconditional release within the shortest period of time.
“We use this opportunity to call on the Inspector General of Police, and Director-General of DSS and other security agencies in Nigeria to deploy their very best for her timely rescue.”
The group regretted that she had been in her abductors’ den for one week, hence the need for  concerted efforts for her immediate rescue.
It also appealed to the abductors to set her free for the sake of God and interest of humanity.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the judge was abducted by gunmen, while her orderly was shot dead on Agbor/Benin Expressway on Oct. 30.
