Benin – Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Tuesday in Benin called for a harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.
He spoke when the leadership of the Edo House of Assembly, led by the new Speaker, Mrs Elizabeth Ativie, paid him a courtesy visit.
Oshiomhole said that the bond of unity in the state could not be compromised in order to ensure that the prevailing peace in the state was sustained.
He said that unity could only thrive where there was equity in sharing.
Oshiomhole advised the new leadership to continue to build from where her predecessor stopped and aspire to ensure that her tenure was better.
He said that the cordial relationship that existed between both arms of government in the state was due to mutual understanding and respect.
Earlier, Ativie said the Assembly members were in government house to introduce the new leadership of the House to the governor.
She gave the assurance that the House would continue to work harmoniously with the executive as well as provide adequate oversight. (NAN)
