OSOGBO – The Commissioner of Police in Osun, Mr Abubakar Marafa, on Friday warned that anyone caught tearing posters of rival political parties would be dealt with according to the law.

Marafa gave the warning while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo.
The police commissioner who acknowledged cases of party supporters destroying campaign posters of [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]opposing parties, said henceforth, anybody caught perpetrating the act would face the wrath of the law.
He also warned politicians in the state against engaging in actions capable of breaching security before, [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]during and after the
elections.
“I want to urge politicians to play the game according to the rules.
“I also want to warn candidates, their followers and those who are planning to cause trouble that it is no [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10”]longer business as usual.
“Whosoever violates the Electoral Act will be dealt with accordingly.
“There are rules and regulations concerning political activities and we want all political stakeholders to abide by the rules,” he said.
Marafa also urged politicians to appeal to their followers not to engage in any violent activities during the election period.
“I want to appeal to politicians to warn their supporters against acts of violence and tearing of campaign posters,” he said.
He said the command was ready to provide adequate security before, during and after the elections. (NAN)
