ABUJA (Sundiata Post) It is incontrovertibly the fact that Osun, the ancestral state of the strong man of South-West politics Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu, had hitherto remained an appendix to the political empire of the Jagaban, to which the franchise of producing the occupants of the Osun State Government House at every election squarely rested with and no man born of a woman had the temerity to alter the trend. The affliction continued unabated for close to two decades but for the windstorm of electoral revolution of yesterday that shook the foundation of Jagaban empire leaving everyone puzzling and mystified at the results.
Prior to the time, Tinubu in his usual style made no pretension about Mr. Gbeyega Oyetola as his preferential candidate to succeed Governor Rauf Aregbesola whose tenure will end on 1 January, 2019.
He assured his party with utter confidence of his unbroken power to ensuring that the scion of his political dynasty (Oyetola), is elected as the next Governor of Osun.
Unfortunately, Oyetola’s candidacy turned out to be a “hard nut to crack” stemmed from the abysmal performance of Governor Aregbesola for the past 7 years in office. As loquaciously competent as Comr. Oshiomhole is, he couldn’t vocalize any meaningful performance of APC 7 years rule in the state to market the unmarketable product until he veered off the track and made a bluff in comparing an Aregbesola’s school feeding program with that of Awo. No single soul that campaigned for Oyetola could convincingly tell the electorate what a man who had served the regime as Chief of Staff for eight years would do differently, if not intensification of impoverishment in the state. Not even Sen.Tinubu could salvage the situation except that he was boastful to have been richer than Osun state government which sparked up a backlash from the public. Tend to be worried by the reality of impending tsunami of Sept. 22nd polls and the political implications of losing an ancestral state of the APC national leader to the opposition… then swung into action in an attempt to rig but couldn’t do much because of the large number of people who barricaded everywhere in need of freedom from the bondage of a political merchant.
Pundits predicted that Osun experience is the beginning of the fall of Tinubu’s political grip in the south-west. Lagos, Oyo and Ogun states will fall off by 2019.
And the crux of it is that the outcome of Osun election would serve as a warning note to president Buhari in 2019
Congratulations to Sen. Adeleke on your imminent victory come Thursday, 27 September, 2018
