Osogbo – Osun United FC players and officials have moved to the National Youth Development Centre, Ode Omu, Osun, for intensive pre-season and screening exercise ahead of the 2016/2017 Nigeria National League (NNL).
The Club’s Media Manager, Tunde Shamsudeen, made disclosure in a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo.
Shamsudeen said the camping was to allow for proper blending of the new and old players and for Coach Duke Udi to have a formidable team ahead of the new season.
He said the club would use the camping to improve on the team’s game, through technical and functional training for basic skills.
The manager said the old and new players would also be subjected to developmental drills on coordination and understanding of their roles as players.
He said part of the efforts of building a formidable team was a friendly match organised between Kwara United FC and Osun United, played last Friday at the University of Ilorin Sports Complex.
“I’m not disappointed with his players in spite of their losing 0-2 because the game had given him the opportunity to see where he needs to work on before the new season,’’ he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the club, as part of its preparations for the 2016/17 NNL, appointed Udi as the new head coach.
It has opened camping and screening for new players to fight for shirt in the team.
Before the move to their new camp ground, the club had been training at the Fountain University Sports Complex, Osogbo.
