LAGOS – Captain of Heartland FC of Owerri, Chinedu Efugh, on Tuesday described the team’s 3-0 loss to Sunshine Stars FC of Akure as ill luck.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Heartland also known as Naze millionaires lost the first leg encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri, on Sunday in a crushing 3-0 defeat.
Efugh told NAN that the club would strive to get the required maximum three points in the return leg in Akure at a yet to be named date.
“As sad as it was, we could not contain Sunshine Stars, but with this result, it will challenge us to ensure that we win our return leg and get the maximum three points.
“I really cannot pin point what went wrong, I can only attribute our failure to total ill luck, considering the fact that we were at home.
“This goes to show that everyone is stepping up in the league, being home or away does not change a thing, Heartland will deliver. We sincerely apologise to our fans.
“We will remedy this in our subsequent matches with the continuous unwavering support of our fans and management, ” Efugh said.
