Residents of Ikot Ekang, a serene community in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state, are reeling in shock and grief following the brutal killing of Apostle Elisha Asuquo, the founder of the Mount of Solution Redeemed Church (MSRC), and Pastor Aniekan Ibanga.
The assailants, who remain unidentified, stormed the National Headquarters of the Church during a Parish meeting, opening fire and fleeing the scene on a motorcycle through Abak-Ikot Ekpene Federal Highway.
Apostle Asuquo, a native of Adiasim in Essien Udim Local Government Area, was deeply involved in mediating a delicate marital reconciliation when tragedy struck. Meanwhile, Pastor Aniekan Ibanga hailed from Ikot Obioikpa village, Afaha Obong Clan, in Abak LGA.
The shocking incident has left the community in mourning, with community leaders like Bishop John Jeremiah Kpongkpong expressing disbelief at the unprecedented violence. Eyewitnesses recounted the chaos and immediate response, with the police launching a manhunt for the perpetrators under the orders of Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayirara. In the midst of sorrow, there is a united call for justice and collaboration between villages to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
