ISEYIN – The Secretary to Oyo State Government (SSG), Mr Ismael Alli, on Monday extolled the virtues of late Alhaja Ramota Balogun, describing her as “ a true mother and a political strategist.’’
Balogun died on Saturday night and was buried on Sunday morning in Iseyin.
Alli, who spoke with NAN at the Ijemba residence of the late politician, said the state would miss Balogun.
“She was an impartial politician, very dependable; she stood for the truth, improved welfare for her community and we will surely miss her wealth of experience.
“We’ll miss her in the State Executive Council. Even though she was not a member, her contribution toward our success cannot be over emphasised,’’ he said.
Alli, who said the government would immortalise the late Balogun, added that her demise would not affect the chances of the APC in the 2015 general elections.
“She was a very vibrant politician and had a huge followership base; we believe that her good days would live after her in this Oke-Ogun area of the state.
“What she has done was enough for APC to build upon to gather more support for the party in the general elections,’’ he said.
Many dignitaries had visited the residence of the late politician who died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, after a prolonged ailment.
The state’s Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Alake-Adeyemo, had on Sunday led commissioners, council chairmen and other top government functionaries to condole with the Balogun family. (NAN)
