Ibadan – The Mineral Development Agency Amendment Bill 2016 on Thursday scaled through second reading at the floor of Oyo State House of Assembly.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill seeks to amend the Mineral Development Agency Law of 2013.
It seeks to make provision for the office of a General Manager and make it a full fledged agency.
In his contribution, Mr Bolaji Badmus (APC/Akinyele II) said that the bill would help boost efficient revenue generation from the sector.
According to him, it will provide the state the opportunity to benefit from the Federal Government’s decision to give solid minerals-producing states 13 per cent of revenue generated from the sector.
The Speaker, Mr Michael Adeyemo, said that the bill be passed to the House Committee on Solid Minerals for further deliberations.
NAN reports that the Oyo State Environmental Protection Agency Bill 2012 and State Proceedings Amendment Bill 2016 also scaled through second reading.
The house adjourned its plenary to Feb. 21.
