JOS (Sundiata Post ) – A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced an 18-year-old painter, Malachai Monday to one year impisonment for house breaking and theft.
The Magistrate, Mr Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the two counts of breaking and entering and theft.
Bokkos however. gave the convict an option to either pay N30, 000 fine or spend six months imprisonment.
The magistrate also ordered him to pay compensation of N53,000 as compensation to the complainant.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported at the “C” Division on Jan.8, by Ms Asabe Agah , the complainant.
Thiawur said the convict broke into the complainant’s house and stole a phone worth N50,000 and N3,000 cash.
The prosecutor said the offence is punishable under the provisions of Section 332 and 272 of Plateau Penal Code Law.(NAN)
